This Girl's Lunch

Another sketch for the Sketchbook Project

Darn! I wish their was a better way to get a good scan of a pencil sketch. There's so much subtlety that's lost in this one. I was really quite proud of it, but you can't see a lot of the fine detail in the scan. I guess I'm just going to have to sketch in pen!

  1. It's a lovely sketch, and when I enlarged it, I could see most of the delicate lines you used! nancy

  2. I do a lot of pencil sketches and the way I get around the bad scans is to adjust the lighten/darken setting. Some, in the past, have suggested this is cheating but I feel it really isn't if the viewer is unable to see the finer details without it. It does sometimes pick up the smudges, etc, but that doesn't bother me so much. Graphite is reflective, which just makes the scanning a bit more difficult. Good luck! From what I can see, it looks like a great sketch.

  3. Thanks Raena, for your advice...I did do that, but it didn't work that well...oh well, we do what we can...you all get the gist I think, anyways, and thanks Cathy, it was!

  4. I do like to see pencil sketches - despite the scanning problems. This looks superb on my screen so it must be a real masterpiece when viewed for real!
